About Casper Civic Chorale

Our History

The Chorale has performed in Cheyenne, Laramie, Douglas, Sheridan, Thermopolis, and Lander; also with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, singing Verdi’s Requiem, Operas, Beethoven’s Symphony #9, Christmas Programs, including the Messiah and other Christmas favorites.

The Chorale was a part of the Wyoming State Choir, under the leadership of Carlyle Weiss, of the University of Wyoming. During that time, in addition to local concerts, the Wyoming State Choir gave performances with the Festival Orchestra at the Teton Music Festival in Jackson, Wyoming, Ling Tung conducting; Carnegie Hall in June, 1996, performing Brahm’s Requiem, with Helmut Rilling conducting’ Verdi Requiem with the University of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, (twice); Avery Music hall, Lincoln Center in New York City. They have also been on concert tours in England, Scotland, and Italy.

The Chorale has been on concert tours, with two performances in the Czech Republic, in Karlovy Vary and Prague, in June of 2004. The group enjoyed sightseeing, visiting Austria and Germany. In June, 2010, the Chorale traveled to Ireland and performed concerts in five cities: Galway, Clifden, Kilkenney, Killarney and Dublin. Everyone enjoyed visiting various sites of interest along the way, between cities, as well as exploring the interesting historical sights abounding in Irish cities.

Civic Chorale members pay their own way on all the trips and pay dues when singing in each concert. They represent a wide spectrum of occupations, typical of the Casper Community.
